The Minden Soaring Club has called its annual general meeting for Sunday at the Minden-Tahoe Airport, and they’re calling everyone interested in gliders to come see what they’re up to.

The meeting will take place in a private hangar on the airport in conjunction with the competition pilot’s meeting and banquet of this year’s national soaring competition, at which the best of America’s soaring pilots will be present.

“Minden Soaring Club has been actively fostering the sport of cross country soaring out of Minden Airport for several decades now, as well as giving youth scholarships to several young pilot wannabes every year,” organizer Fred LaSor said. “Our scholarships have expanded to include recipients outside Nevada, with a recent scholarship going to a youngster in Maryland.”

The club is always looking for people to get involved in the club, especially this year as the board will be losing several members.

“We want to continue fostering the sport and encouraging the development of new pilots, so please visit our Facebook page and learn about us and how you can participate,” LaSor said.
