Genoa, Nev. — Stateline casinos posted a 15.79 percent increase during February, the second largest percentage gain in Nevada over the prior year. According to the Nevada Gaming Control Board, the casinos won $20.4 million compared to $17.68 million in February 2020, the month before the March 17 lockdown.


Douglas dropped below 300 active coronavirus cases for the first time since Thanksgiving. A backlog of 146 confirmed cases dating back to October 2020 was added to the total case numbers Wednesday, but didn’t affect the active cases.


The Douglas County Library Board of Trustees voted Wednesday to return the Minden branch to pre-lockdown hours of operation effective May 1.


Douglas County is weighing whether commissioners will meet in person on April 1. Public Information Officer Melissa Blosser said they are waiting on more information from health officials. The agenda for that meeting, which must say where and how it will be held, is due out Friday, but I hope to hear today.


The chance of precipitation has been reduced significantly with a slight chance of rain or snow showers over lunchtime and then a slight chance of showers.


The high temperature today is forecast at around 50 degrees with the wind out of the west at 5-15 mph, gusting to 25 mph.
