Genoa, Nev. — An attempt to claw back $1.1 million from the Regional Transportation Commission designated to pay for design work on Muller Lane Parkway was stymied by a 2-2 vote on the Douglas County Board of Commissioners.  CA-Group has been issued a notice to proceed on the work.

Gardnerville Town Board member Ken Miller was named to the third seat on the Regional Transportation Commission and Planning Commissioner Maureen Casey to the State Land Use Planning Advisory Council.

Congratulations to new Minden Town Board member Bryan Davis, whose appointment was confirmed by county commissioners on Thursday.

The U.S. Forest Service was burning above Genoa for much of Thursday. Expect more of that in the coming days as the weather continues to be perfect. I spotted orange signs telling people not to call in the smoke on Genoa Lane, Jacks Valley Road and Centennial.

Douglas County’s coronavirus caseload continues to drop with 729 active cases and 1,650 recoveries as of Thursday. Douglas had five new cases and five recoveries, so it’s still out there.

Expect sunny skies and a high temperature of 53 degrees today with the wind picking up to 5 mph in the afternoon. It’ll warm up to the mid-50s over Super Bowl weekend, so nice weather to toss the pigskin around during halftime.
