To raise money to fund historic restoration projects, the nonprofit Friends of Dangberg Home Ranch will host Dangberg Art Round Up on Aug. 21. The event will feature a silent auction of original paintings, photographs and other artwork, a prize raffle, as well as music and entertainment.

Featured at the event will be two honored guests from the past, to talk about their lives at the Home Ranch: Heinrich F. Dangberg, portrayed by Michael Fischer, along with his daughter-in-law, Gertrude H. Dangberg, portrayed by Kim Harris. Both Fischer and Harris are accomplished Chautauquans.

The fundraiser, at Minden's historic C.V.I.C. Hall from 4:00-8:00pm, celebrates Friends of Dangberg's decade of progress caring for the county-owned Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park, located just west of Minden. The 501(c)(3) non-profit has partnered with Douglas County on improving and sharing the park since 2011, when state management ended.

Proceeds from the event will support work on the restoration of several of the park's historic structures, including the deteriorating Delongchamps Gateway.

The work of local artists and photographers will be showcased and offered for purchase in a silent auction format, including contributions by Charles Muench, Pam Brekas, Linda Stratton, Don Fontine, Kim Steed, Jan Rollenhaggen, Kelly Smith Cassidy, Lisa and Jim Daggett, Carolyn Denning, Penny Rand and Jeanine Hudson.

In addition to the entertainment and artwork, the gathering will also include champagne, delicious snacks from A Catered Affaire, and a raffle for prize baskets. Winning tickets will receive prizes that include restaurant and hotel packages, a gym membership, gift certificates to local restaurants and shops, and more. Music will be provided by Legacy Strings.

Tickets purchased in advance are $20 for Friends of Dangberg members, $23 for non-members. Tickets at the door will be $25. Tickets may be purchased at the park or at dangberg.eventbrite.com. For more information, write info@dangberghomeranch.org or call 775-783-9417.

Dangberg Art Round Up is sponsored by D&B Cabinets, Christensen Automotive, Douglas Disposal, Eddy Street Vintage Market, Especially for You, Mangia Tutto, Marv's Custom Framing and several generous individuals. In-kind sponsors include Kristine Seward/Chase International Realty, Country Excursions, Harvey's Lake Tahoe Hotel & Casino, Mountain View Tree Farm, Pulse Fitness, Pure Glow Salon, and Grocery Outlet (Gardnerville).

The Round Up will help conclude the Dangberg 2020 Capital Campaign, with proceeds helping raise the $44,000 still needed to reach the effort's $200,000 goal. Additional donations are welcome to support both restoration and an endowment, and can be made at the park, by mail, or at Dangberg.org.
