8 hurt in Friday collision

A two-vehicle collision south of Gardnerville on Jakes Hill resulted in eight people being treated by medics and Highway 395 being closed Friday while the wreckage was cleared.

The collision was reported at 2:07 p.m., according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

A pickup truck crossed the centerline and sideswiped a van, according to NHP Trooper Hannah DeGoey.

She said no one was ejected and several people were transported with potentially moderate injuries.

East Fork firefighters on scene reported that one person was transported by helicopter to Renown Regional Medical Center.

At one point, East Fork sought every available ambulance to respond, including one from Tahoe-Douglas, Mono County and another from Carson City.

The collision is under investigation by the NHP, who were still out at the scene as of 4:40 p.m. Friday.

■ Firefighters responded to an early morning report of a tree branch on fire near Toler and Scotti lanes on Monday.

A tree branch brushed power lines early in the morning and caught fire. East Fork Fire Protection District personnel and NV Energy responded to the call.
