Genoa, Nev. — Douglas County commissioners decided Thursday to contest a fine levied against the county as a result of two OSHA violation related to a Sept. 12 rally for President Trump. That process starts with an informal meeting with the state and should the fine stand, commissioners instructed County Manager Patrick Cates to appeal.
Statewide election results for Nevada are supposed to come out 9 a.m. today on the Secretary of State’s web site at silverstateelection.nv.gov. Douglas added around 5,100 votes to its tally on Thursday, but the results didn’t change any local races. What impact it has statewide will be revealed in a couple of hours.
An acceleration lane on Highway 395 and Genoa Lane is still a priority for the county, while work on the intersection at the highway and Muller Lane was moved up in priorities on Thursday. The state presented its work plan to commissioners on Thursday.
Several Sheriff’s patrol cars and fire units responded to Genoa Lakes around 5 p.m. Thursday for a report of a vehicle colliding with a garage. The collision didn’t result in anyone being taken for treatment, that I heard.
We may well see today’s high of 58 degrees this morning, as it’s already 55 degrees out. That warm air usually means there’s some energy to the storm, but don’t expect to see anything until after 4 p.m. when the snow level’s supposed to drop to 4,99 feet. The wind is forecast to be out of the southwest at 15-20 mph, gusting to 30 mph.
Ebbetts, Monitor and Sonora passes are scheduled to close 10 a.m. today for the impending storm as a cold front pushes into Western Nevada starting Friday night. A winter weather advisory kicks in 10 p.m. Saturday with the possibility of 1-4 inches of snow early Sunday morning.
