Community Sports: Silver State Gymnastics strong in invite

Silver State’s Level 7 team won the Jake Dalton Gymnastics Invitational over the weekend in Reno.

Eviana McGowan won first place all-around by winning the bar and placing third on the vault and beam. Elle Liebendorfer was second on bars, floor and all-around. Emily Lewis was first on beam, second on bars and second in the all around.

In XCel Bronze Jr. A, Alyssa Mathies was first on vault, beam and floor en route to the all-around title. In the XCel B competition, Adriana Castillo won vault, beam and floor, and was second on bars, en route to first place all around. In the C group, Kiera Windsor was second on vault and won third place all-around. In the D group, Hayley Williams was first on vault and floor and second on bars en route to first place all-around. Reagan Talkington was third on bars, second on beam and third all-around. Ali Maschke was third on beam.

Carson Valley Girls Softball Association registration is underway.

The next three live registration dates are Jan. 23 from 6 to 8 p.m., Jan. 27 from noon to 2 p.m. and Jan. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. Registration is being held at the Douglas County Community Center. You can also register on line at carsonvalleyfastpitch.com. If you register before Jan. 10 you get a $10 discount.

New players must upload copies of birth certificates online or bring copies to registration. Fees are $90 (ages 4-6) and $120 (7 and older). Coaches and sponsors are needed. All-star teams are being formed for the 8u, 10u, 12u and 14u divisions.
