All sorts: The wife of Lucky Baldwin died in San Francisco of quick consumption. Lucky is a free man again. Water pipes and hydrants all over town were frozen yesterday, giving rise to language that will never open the gates of Paradise.

Albert Kneeland, a bigamist, who has twelve living wives, was sentenced at St. Joseph, Missouri to three years and six months in prison. It is his second offense.

Polygamy: Dr. Way Tong, a Chinese physician, and resident of Sumas, Washington married Chun Kow Gum, a local Chinese woman. A year later they went to China on a visit to see his wife in China. When he returned he was refused entry at Sumas, Washington on the grounds that he was a polygamist. His claim is that he has only married one wife.

Struck by auto: Two eight-year old girls both who reside at the State Children’s Home received minor injuries after being struck by an automobile and knocked to the pavement on South Carson street. Kathleen Johnson and Linda Pierini are both resting comfortably at the home.

Painters: The Historic Fourth Ward School is having its first paint job in a decade. “About half the exterior of the building has been painted,” said Fourth Ward Director Mark Preiss… “I think the wood is breathing a sigh of relief.”
