Ryan Bruce Smith

June 28, 1980 – June 21, 2017

Ryan Bruce Smith, 36, of Carson City, Nevada, passed away at Sutter Medical Center in Sacramento, California with family at his side on June 21, 2017.

Ryan (Smee, Smitty) was born on June 28, 1980 to Brian and Jerrie (Douglass) Smith in Carson City, Nevada. He graduated Carson High School in 1999, where he excelled in sports and especially loved soccer, track and golf. He went on to live in Reno, Park City, Flagstaff, Phoenix and Santa Catalina Island and left an impression everywhere he visited.

Ryan was an exceptional individual whose mischievous nature and great sense of humor endeared him to all who met him. He was a free spirit who wanted to travel the world and try everything at least once. This last year, he was able to travel abroad with his sister, Cassidy. Together they spent time on the ocean snorkeling, horseback riding along the beach and sightseeing, something he always wanted to do.

He excelled at every job he did whether it was at ski resorts, tending bar, sporting goods, scuba diving or harbor patrol. Avoiding dull moments was always a primary objective for Ryan and he was a great motivator. He embraced his love for the outdoors and spent much of his time exploring, boating, wakeboarding, fishing and camping with family and friends. However, Ryan’s ultimate passion was golf. As a member at Thunder Canyon Golf Course, he spent many hours playing and perfecting his game. When not at the course, Ryan could often be found watching golf on TV or practicing his swing in the back yard. He was very excited to have been able to compete in a few tournaments and had the

opportunity to play very prestigious golf courses in Arizona, California, Mexico and The Dominican Republic.

Ryan was preceded in death by his father, Brian V. Smith; his maternal grandparents, Edwin Douglass and Connie (Balgoyen) Lawrence; and his paternal grandmother, Barbara (Flostrom) Schneider.

Ryan is survived by his mother, Jerrie Smith; his sister, Cassidy Smith; his paternal grandparents, George and Mary Smith; various aunts, uncles and cousins; and his cat, Miss Kitty, upon whom he doted.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Tioyabe Golf Course, 19 Lightning W. Ranch Rd., New Washoe City, NV on September 29, 2017, starting at 4:00 p.m.
