Carson Street to remain open through crosswalk work

Crosswalks will be repaired on South Carson Street following severe weather that hit the area this year.

The repairs are being covered under warranty by Q&D Construction at no cost to the city.

The crosswalks were damaged following severe floodwaters that washed out sand beneath the pavers.

In addition to the repairs, larger drains will be installed to help prevent damage from upcoming weather events.

The work is scheduled to begin Monday with an estimated completion date of May 12.

Carson Street from William to Fifth streets will remain open during the repairs.

Also, road work on State Route 28 at Lake Tahoe is expected to cause travel delays of up to 30 minutes from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.

The Nevada Department of Transportation’s restriping project began at the State Route 28/U.S. 50 Spooner junction before moving westward to the Nevada-California state line.

Originally scheduled for April 24-27 and then postponed until the week of May 1, the road improvement was rescheduled to most quickly restripe the roadway during breaks in weather.

The schedule is subject to change based on weather and other factors.

Weather dependent, restriping also will take place on Mt. Rose Highway between Incline Village and the summit, as well as on U.S. 50 from the State Route 28 junction to the Nevada-California state line, next week.

Drivers are urged to drive safely and not illegally pass in road work zones.
