Carrieann “Cay” Painter

Carrieann “Cay” Painter, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away in her sleepearly in the morning of August 8, 2016, from heart problems that were diagnosed in her teenage years. Cay was born in Long Beach, Long Island, New York on May 22, 1936 to the late J.F.“Jack” and Maryann Holmes.


Cay’s early life was spent in Fallon, Nevada along with her family until marrying a military man in 1975. The family traveled to California, Germany and Texas before arriving in Colorado in1986. While in Texas, the family trio of Cay, her husband and their daughter, Jill toured the country coast to coast on their own motorcycles.


Cay had a diversified work history. She was an accounting secretary for years before returning to Fallon, Nevada to become a blackjack dealer in a local casino, where she met her husband, Lyell Painter (the military man) in 1975.In her free time she enjoyed painting and crafting.


She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Barbara (Wayne) Cline and brother, Bill Holmes of Fallon, Nevada.


Cay is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Lyell; daughters: Jennifer Gaye of Spokane, Washington and Jillana Joy (Lance) Kilgore of Knox City, Texas; brother, James (Peg) Holmes of Salt Lake City, Utah; sister, Jackie (Bob) Lee of Troy, Montana and sister in law, Marlene Holmes. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
