RENO — Greg Wallace gave Carson High football fans a glimpse of the future late last season when he gained 39 yards in mop-up duty.
Wallace showed he’s ready for prime-time duty after his 73-yard effort in a 44-27 loss to Reed Saturday night at Mackay Stadium.
“He really showed what he’s capable of,” Carson coach Blair Roman said. “I think he’s going to have a good year for us. He ran really hard.”

Carson’s last score came on a 32-yard pass from Jace Keema to Jake Roman.
“That was a heck of a pass by Jace,” coach Roman said. “He hit Jake right in stride.
“Jake is a 4.0 student and he knows the plays. He doesn’t get a lot of opportunities. I was really happy for him.”
LONG DELAY
The first quarter took more than an hour to play because of an injury to a Reed player. An ambulance carted the injured player off after a 25-minute delay. The injured player was believed to be Leo Valdivia.
POTPOURRI
Carson won the toss and deferred, a strange decision, considering how good Reed is offensively … It was a tough first half for Johnny Barahona, who missed on a 27-yard field goal and a PAT … It was Reed’s sixth win in nine tries against Carson since Blair Roman and Reed’s Ernie Howren started matching wits… Connor Pradere replaced Asa Carter at free safety for much of the third quarter, and looked good in coverage… Ian Schulz injured his ankle, but Roman doesn’t believe it’s that serious.
