Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Koeckes, 80, passed away May 9, 2015 at her son’s home in Fallon after a short battle with cancer. She was born on June 28, 1934 in Culver City, CA to John and Elizabeth Leonard Charles and lived for many years in Simi Valley, CA. She moved to Fallon with her family in the 70’s then later relocated to southern California after the death of her husband. She traveled around the United States, Canada and Mexico as much as she could. She was a very independent person, but she loved to spend lots of time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She worked at the Churchill County Library for a number of years and was the librarian on the Fallon Bookmobile. She loved to read mystery and detective novels, but read everything she could get her hands on. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Koeckes, her sister Katherine Charles, grandson Christopher Sharp and her significant other Jack Howard. She is survived by her daughter Deborah Sharp, son Jon Koeckes, both of Fallon. Grandchildren Randy Sharp, Kasia Bugajski, Lori Sharp, Bettie Wright, Amy Koeckes, Keri Koeckes and Sean Koeckes, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside service will be held at 3 PM at the Fallon cemetery on Friday May 15, 2015. Arrangements by Smith Family Funeral Home 423-2255.
