Jazz vocalist at Carson City’s Adele’s New Year’s Eve

Jazz vocalist Sherre Carne, accompanied by keyboardist Jimmy Vermilion, will perform on New Year’s Eve at Cafe at Adele’s.

beginning at 9:30 p.m., in the lounge.

“We always have such a wonderful welcoming of the New Year and we are happy to have Sherre sing us into it,” said Chef Charlie Abowd.

As is tradition, the evening’s dinner menu showcases favorite dishes from this past year, as well as a more casual menu for those who simply desire dessert, an appetizer or to try something new. Dinner service begins at 4 p.m.

“Our menu will feature fresh fish and Bentley Ranch beef, which is all grass fed — no grain or GMOs,” he said. “And of course there will be the midnight toast and party favors for everyone.”

This celebration has long been a local favorite and reservations are recommended.

New in 2016 is the serving of breakfast on New Year’s Day, the perfect opportunity for those who have yet to try Adele’s regular breakfast menu, which was instituted about three years ago and has consistently received rave reviews. New Year’s Day specials will also be served. Cafe at Adele’s will be open for lunch and dinner that day as well, prior to closing Jan. 4-18, for the staff’s annual vacation. Cafe at Adele’s will reopen Jan. 19.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the community for their outpouring of generosity and support for Cookies with Santa this year,” Abowd said. “Thanks to everyone’s participation, we were able to pack two SUVs full of toys and donate almost $700 to Ron Wood Family Resource Center, the agency which will provide a Merry Christmas to our area’s children in need.”

A special thanks as well to Santa Tom Strekel, who Abowd mentioned was part of the Polar Express rescue program as “Santa with his magic can make a bad situation good,” to Leonard Gonzales for once again capturing the moment in a way uniquely his own, and to The Dowell Family who provide photos and music each year.
