Shirley Elizabeth Baker (Hinkle)

Shirley Elizabeth Baker (Hinkle) passed peacefully on July 20, 2015 from complications from Alzheimer’s Disease. Shirley was born in Los Molinos, CA on February 27, 1935 to Carrie and Vernon Hinkle and was the youngest of 11. Shirley Graduated High School in Red Bluff, CA in 1953. On October 21, 1958 Shirley married James Clarence (Buck) Baker in El Paso, TX. During James’ many military deployments, Shirley worked various jobs including a sign

maker doing silk screening and at a laundry facility. In 1973. Shirley accompanied James when he deployed to Germany until 1979. They visited many countries including Scotland, Ireland, Spain, Switzerland, Greenland, France and Austria.After Germany, James was stationed in Fort Carson, Colorado. In 1980 Shirley stood by James’ side when he retired from his military career. At this time the couple moved to Fallon, NV to settle down. Over the next 30 years Shirley worked several jobs but truly enjoyed her time following her artistic endeavors including quilting, sewing, ceramics, cake decorating, painting and leatherwork. She also liked bowling with her many friends. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents and several of her siblings, and her sister-in-law Mary Jo Baker Shirley is survived by her husband, James Baker of 57 years, her brother-in-law Robert Baker, niece Bonnie Boyd and husband Andy Boyd and children Sarah, Maggie and Mathew, nephew Roger Baker and wife Carmen Baker and children Patrick, Austin and Garrett. A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held on Friday, July 31, 2 pm - 4pm at Homestead Senior and Memory Care Community (365 West A, Fallon, NV).
