Dayton Chamber honors community members who make a difference

The Dayton Chamber of Commerce honored community members Friday night during the second annual Dayton Community Awards. The honorees were recognized at a receptions at the Dayton Valley Golf Course. The event was cosponsored by the Nevada Appeal.

Honorees were:

Customer Service in Food and Beverage: Ray Brown from 1st & 10.

Customer Service: Melanie Nelson from Greater Nevada Credit Union.

Volunteer of the Year: Sharon Atkinson

Volunteer of the Year: Sharon Vonnegut

Service Organization of the Year: The Sorpotimist of the Comstock

Business Start Up Award: Tommy Nguyn from Chopstix Restaurant

Outstanding Educator of the Year: David Palmer, Dayton High School

Military Service Award: World War II Navy veteran Quentin McColl

Public Service Award: Dana Smith from Karwoski Dental

Person of the Year: Jeanise Parker from Pioneer Crossing

A check for $500 was awarded to RSVP’s Kathy Bray in honor of RSVP’s outstanding service to the community.
