Lyon County Commissioner says she is innocent of ethics charge

Lyon County Commissioner Vida Keller says she will prove she’s innocent of charges her vote to rezone property in Silver City for Comstock Mining being inappropriate.

The charge was filed by Lyon County School Board member Theo McCormick.

“Not now nor ever have I promised any vote to Comstock Mining Inc. or any other individual or company,” she said in a press release Thursday.

She said all laws were followed in that rezoning case and all disclosures made before the vote.

Keller said she asked the Ethics Commission for a hearing on the issue in February and a date was set. But, she said, the commission canceled the hearing because the Comstock Residents Association filed suit against Lyon County.

“They did not feel it appropriate to post a decision during litigation,” she said.

She said McCormick’s complaint will allow the process she wanted in February to move forward.

“I am happy for this opportunity to defend myself and prove that I am innocent of all erroneous charges,” she said.
