Carson City health inspections

Carson City Health Department’s food-service inspections for Dec. 4. All scores are on a 100-point scale, with points deducted depending on the severity of violations:

Aloha Medicinals, Inc., 2300 Arrowhead Drive, scored 100 points.

Gold Dust West, Express Snack Bar, 2171 E. Highway 50, 100 points.

JM Discount Liquor, 1501 E. Fifth St., Suite 102, 100 points.

Johnny Rockets, 4600 Snyder Ave., Suite B, 100 points.

Murphy Bernardini, 1545 E. Fifth St., 100 points.

Olive Garden, 4253 S. Carson St., 100 points.

Save Mart Supermarkets, bakery, 3620 N. Carson St., 100 points.

Save Mart Supermarkets, deli, 3620 N. Carson St., 100 points.

Save Mart Supermarkets, bakery, 3325 E. Highway 50, 99 points. There was no sanitizer bucket or spray bottle set up in any part of the kitchen.

Terrible’s, 4640 S. Carson St., 99 points. Food was not labeled as required.

Wendy’s, 4140 S. Carson St., 97 points. A supply of soap was not available at the kitchen hand washing sink next to the ice machine. A supply of paper towels was not available at the kitchen hand washing sink.

Arco ampm, 1017 N. Carson St., 96 points. Bags of ice manufactured in the facility were not labeled. There was no certified food handler on duty.

Fuji Park, Exhibit Hall and kitchen, 701 Clear Creek Road, 96 points. Hot water in the kitchen was at 138 degrees, but it should have been between 110 and 120 degrees. Water in the restroom was at 68 degrees and was not adequately hot for hand washing, which would have been 100 degrees.

Pure Ground Ingredients, 2500 Arrowhead Drive, 94 points. Bags of alfalfa were stored on the floor in the grinding room. The chlorine sanitizer in the spray bottle was measuring at 10 parts-per-million. There was a dirty wet wiping clothing in the side of the three-compartment sink. There was no back flow prevention device between the end of the faucet at the three-compartment sink and the hose attached to it. Two drain pipes were draining into the hand sink in the grinding room. Floors in the upper level of the grinding room were not cleanable. The floor to wall contact in the food grinding room was not covered. There were holes in the floors under equipment. Cardboard was used on the floor in the packing room. The floors were not kept clean. Some insulation in the ceiling of the packing room was loose or secured with tape.

China Chef, 3135 E. Highway 50, 93 points. The final rinse cycle of the dishwasher was sanitizing below 50 parts per million of chlorine concentration after multiple attempts to prime the unit. There was an open can of bamboo shoots in the reach-in refrigerator. Equipment in the kitchen needed to be cleaned to remove built-up grease. The bottom of the can opener had a heavy buildup of syrups.

Arco ampm, 4340 N. Carson St., 87 points. A large waste container was blocking the hand sink in the deli kitchen, corrected on site. Bags of ice manufactured on the premises were not labeled. A bag of onions was stored on the floor. The lower half of the main ice machine needed to be cleaned, but the upper half was not inspected. Floor sinks under the ice machine and the three-compartment sink were dirty. There were spills under the syrup rack in the deli kitchen. There was no certified food handler present.

Holiday Inn Express, 4055 N. Carson St., 86 points. There was no air gap between the drainpipes and the flood rim surface at the floor sink under the three-compartment sink. The hot holding unit at the buffet had no thermometer. Two out-of-date dairy products were found, corrected on site. There was no sanitizer spray bottle or cloth storage bucket set up. There was no paper towel dispenser or paper towels at the hand washing sink in the kitchen. Cloth towels were being used to wipe wet hands. There was no certified food handler on site.
