Greene, Drozdoff run well for Carson

RENO - Carson High's boys team finished ninth at the Nature's Bakery Nevada Twilight Classic Saturday night.

The Carson girls were 14th.

Nick Greene led Carson with a 16th-place finish in 14:13 followed by Anthony Cacioppo in 35th place. Tylar Chester was 67th, Porfirio Jauregui was 68th and Daniel Jauregui was 70th.

Alex Drozdoff was eighth in 16:23, while Athena Favero was 67, Shelby Brown 78th, Samantha Phelps 115th and Lexie Patton 122nd.

The Dayton boys finished 16th, as Aaron Elissa ran a 14:27. Joe Law was 56th, Skyler Roe was 69th, Phillip Hevener 114th and David White was 133rd.

Dayton didn't have a complete girls squad, but Katrina Breithaupt was seventh in 16:22.

After a mistake gave Galena its only goal. Kenzie Tillitt scored in the 58th minute to knot tha game at 1.

Michelle Sandage had the assist on the Tillitt score.

Carson is 2-0-1.

RENO - McQueen, taking advantage of three Crson mistakes, rolled to a 20-0 lead en route to a 39-8 win on Thursday night.

Once Carson settled down it was able to move the ball much better than last week mounting some respectable drives. Asa Carter scored on a 14-yard run and Ikela Lewis added the 2-point coversion on a nice dive into the endzone.

Defensively, Carter and Lewis each had a interception.

Carson travels to North Valleys for a 4:30 game on Thursday.

RENO - Corey Reid scored all 21 of Carson's points to lead the Senators past McQueen, 21-20, on Friday night.

MUCKERS TAKE 2ND

at REED INVITE

SPARKS - Virginia City's varsity volleyball team placed second in the Rail City Classic JV tournament at Reed High School.

The Muckers lost to Galena 25-23 and 25-23, and then reeled off wins over Dayton (25-18, 25-8), Reed (25-19, 25-23), South Lake Tahoe (25-17, 25-18) and Spanish Springs (25-21, 22-25, 15-13) before losing in the finals to Douglas in three games.

Virginia City hosts Hawthorne on Tuesday in their league opener.

YERINGTON HANDLES

WHITE PINE IN 3

YERINGTON - Chloe Dane and Kassidy Lommori finished with five kills each to lead Yerington to a 25-18, 25-18 and 25-18 win over White Pine Friday night.

Yerington improved to 14-3,

Angela Sciarani had three kills and eigt digs, while Brooke Menesini added four kills. Savena Rogers had 11 assists, two kils, five digs and and an ace. Lommori added five digs.
