A Gardnerville woman reportedly too intoxicated to find her way home from the Ranchos on Saturday, spent the weekend in Douglas County Jail for violating probation for drunk driving.
A deputy was dispatched to the Tillman 7-Eleven shortly after midnight on the report of a woman staggering in the roadway.
The woman identified herself as Karen James and told the deputy she didn't have any identification, but was trying to hitchhike to her residence on Douglas Avenue in Gardnerville.
She had no keys, but said the door was unlocked at home.
She told the deputy she had walked four miles from her apartment to the convenience store. The deputy said she smelled of alcohol and had trouble maintaining her balance.
A preliminary breath test indicated her blood-alcohol content was .160, twice the legal limit of .08 for driving.
The deputy drove James to her Douglas Avenue residence, but the door was locked. She asked the officer to call her parents who lived on Patricia Drive.
A check of James' record determined she was on probation for a DUI arrest Dec. 17.
James was arrested after colliding with the vehicle of a man who pulled off the road in attempt to avoid the collision. He told deputies he saw James' vehicle headed toward him and tried to get out of her way.
She was sentenced in March to 91 days in Douglas County Jail, suspended, and placed on two years probation.
She has a May 2008 DUI conviction from Merced, Calif.
