Ferret frolic open house and fundraiser Saturday

The sixth annual Ferret Frolic open house is noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at 977 Pleasantview Court, Gardnerville.

The event features raffles, silent and live auctions, bake sale, and merchandise. Hamburger and hot dog lunches are available for purchase.

Admission is $1, with an extra charge for the after-frolic party, 5-8 p.m.

On hand will be Dr. Cameron Ross from Carson Valley Veterinarian Hospital to answer questions, and April from Performance Foods (Totally Ferret).

Participate in a ferret gift exchange: bring a gift of no more than $20 for a ferret, and take a gift home to your ferrets. Don't forget to wrap the items, since ferrets love surprises.

Submit up to five photos for the You Be the Judge contest. Dress up your ferret for the costume contest. There is a $1 donation per ferret for most games.

Items needed for the shelter: HE laundry soap, regular bleach, paper towels, 30-gallon trash bags, TF, Marshall's 8-n-1 Ultimate, Zupreme, Evo foods, children's sleeping bags, gift certificates from Costco, Target, Ferret Depot, Ferret.com, Drs. Fosters and Smith, and monetary donations for the vet bill of ferrets in the shelter.

Don't bring pet ferrets from California. Ferret shelters available for rent for $20, includes all games, except tube race.
