Sewing and socializing

The Fabric Chicks Sewing & Socializing Club meets 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays at Fabric Chicks, 1166 Annie Court, Unit C, Minden. Bring your old and new projects. ShowBiz Kids at Corley Ranch

TOAD and the Carson Valley Arts Council present the ShowBiz Kids talent showcase for youth 5-18 at the Corley Ranch in Gardnerville. Curves shopping Wednesday

The Curves Holiday Shopping Extravaganza begins 6 p.m. Wednesday at Curves, 1540 Highway 395, Gardnerville. Vendors include Silpada Designs, Pampered Chef, Cache Candles, Tupperware, H20 home cleaning products, Avon, art by Carol Lucas, and a bake sale. Wine and hors d'oeuvres served. Free admission but donations of nonperishable food items appreciated. Event benefits Carson Valley Community Food Closet and Relay for Life. Information, 782-3350.


Consignment sale in Carson

The Flip Flop Kids Shop fall consignment sale is Nov. 5-7 in the Gottschalks building, 1313 Carson St., Carson City. Hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 5, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the half-off sale Sunday. Items accepted for this sale include baby gear, nursery items, children's furniture, toys, games, gently used clothing, maternity, sports gear, play equipment, women's clothing, household items, and furniture. Consignors price their items and receive up to 70 percent of their sold items. Event volunteers receive passes to shop the night before the sale. A portion of proceeds from the sale supports Carson City trampoline athlete Krysta Palmer, who is working for a spot on the 2012 Olympic team. Clothing and items will be donated to a local charity.
