Teen Read Week

The Books with Beat @ Your Library Teen Read Week runs through today at the Douglas County Public Library. The program encourages students read for pleasure and to visit libraries to check out free materials on poetry, audio books, and books about music. Elks breakfast Sunday

The Tahoe-Douglas Elks Lodge No. 2670 pancake breakfast is 8:30-11 a.m. Sunday, at the lodge, 1226 Pit Road, Gardnerville Ranchos. Choice of pancakes, eggs/omelets, sausage, juice and coffee, $6 for adults and $3.50 for children. Information, 265-4523.


High Desert Rockers meet

The High Desert Rockers meet, 6-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the Nevada National Guard Center, 2460 Fairview Drive, Carson City. Check in at the guardhouse, and bring identification. Speaker is Ernie Winters, local director of the Nevada Archeological Association, who gives the Rock Art of the West petroglyph presentation. The club's monthly meeting includes refreshments, silent auction, and sign-ups for field trips and upcoming classes. View displays, place bids in the silent auction, and get an access code to buy, swap, and sell on the club's online trading post. No dues or fees. Tuesday. Sweet and sour pork, sugar snack peas, rice, apple walnut slaw, tapioca pudding

Wednesday. Barbecue ribs, French fries, corn, salad, melt away bar

Thursday. Chili with beans, cheese and onions, corn bread, cottage cheese and peaches, cupcakes

Friday. Closed for Nevada Day holiday
