Comedy class

Carson Valley resident and professional comic Kat Simmons teaches a six-week stand-up comedy workshop, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, April 15 through May 27, at the Unity Center in Carson City.

Improve public speaking skills, build self-confidence or just give comedy a shot on-stage. A showcase presented at end of class for those who want to perform. Class size is limited to 10. Class cost, $250. Reserve your spot by today by contacting Simmons at (775) 721-8864.

Library week

Douglas County Public Library celebrates National Library Week, April 13-18. Miss Carol reads during a story time for all ages, 10:30 a.m. April 14. Meet Amelia Bedelia, 5 p.m. April 14.

Teen Poetry Cafe, 4-6 p.m. April 17. Teens ages 12-18 invited to read a favorite poem.

Emotional Freedom Techniques workshop

Learn to use acupressure points to alter the brain's electrical and chemical system and reduce problems such as food cravings, pain, anger or depression at the introduction to Emotional Freedom Techniques workshop, 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, at Carson Valley Medical Center, Gardnerville.

Workshops are free to Barton HealthCare employees, $20 for community members and $50 for three certification hours for massage therapists.

Swap spaces available for the Valley Cruisers Spring Rockathon antique and classic auto show and swap meet, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 16 in Heritage Park in Gardnerville. Hobby vehicles, old farm equipment and parts swap.
