Book Exchange moves, changes name

There will be a grand opening party at Shelby's Book Shoppe in Minden Village on Saturday starting at 4 p.m. with an appearance by Chris Bayer.

Bayer is a singer, storyteller and Nevada historian. He also manages to be named Citizen of the Year in Carson City every once in a while for his work as executive director of the CASA program.

There will be food, games and fun for all ages. 88 Cups, Indigo, and Wasabi's are also participating. If weather permits, Carson City band Road Daddy will be performing on the patio. If the weather doesn't cooperate, then one of the venues will find space for the rock and roll band.

Shelby, the namesake dog of the bookstore, is a bit snobby about other dogs, so please do not bring pets along to the party. Shelby likes humans and wants all of their attention.

Shelby's Book Shoppe, formerly the Eddy Street Book Exchange, has been open since March of 2005. The human owner is Linda Finch. The store host many events including a book club, a women's group, books signings by writers such as Tahoe's own Todd Borg.

On Oct. 16, Tim Mueller, a writer from the Reno area, will share his thoughts about baseball in Nevada. He will be autographing his book "Homeruns & Jackpots."

The store is open now, but the grand opening will start the regular schedule. Located at 1663 Lucerne St., Suite C, the store will be open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
