High card to resolve Kingsbury election tie

The last loose end in Douglas County's general election will be tied up 10 a.m. today when two Kingsbury General Improvement District candidates cut the cards to find out who gets the seat.

Eleven candidates were vying for three seats on the district board. Residents Darya Vogt and Dan Norman were the top two vote-getters.

Robert McDowell and Natalie Yanish tied with 373 votes each for third place.

Under state law ties are resolved by a random method.

Clerk-Treasurer Ted Thran said McDowell and Yanish decided that high card will get the seat.
