Keep Main Street alive

EDITOR:

I want to say "thank you" to all those who volunteer for the Main Street Gardnerville program. Your personal commitment to the community and the downtown district is heart-warming. There are many committees and a Main Street Board that keep this program running, along with those who participate in Main Street events. The committees seem to be growing in number due to the many seasoned volunteers as well as newcomers, and I thank you for your interest in the program.

We have many projects that we need to pursue and fine tune, and we can't do that without the passionate people who volunteer their energy and ideas.

Main Street Gardnerville has one paid program administrator; all the rest of the help is volunteer. The administrator and volunteers work hand in hand, together to get these beneficial projects completed. Both the Town of Gardnerville and Main Street Gardnerville program administrators are doing what they can to make the Main Street program successful by assisting local businesses in their efforts to increase pedestrian traffic in the downtown area. The program seems to be working well, and appears to be successful just by the sheer number of participants in each event held by the Main Street Organization.

A special thanks to the Gardnerville Town Board, the Main Street Board, and the members of the Main Street Organization Committee, Design Committee, Flower Committee, Economic Restructuring Committee, Promotions Committee and Wine Walk Committee for attending the meetings and providing your help and input on how this program can grow and become an integral part of the downtown revitalization by creating opportunities to bring customers to the downtown shopping district. I know you are all working hard, and it shows. Thank you to all the Main Street volunteers for all your time, talents, and passion you provide to this program, and to your community, to ensure that quality programs are provided in the downtown area.
