Carson woman arrested in felony traffic stop

A Carson City woman was arrested at gunpoint on Saturday afternoon after a background check revealed she had a felony warrant.

Yvonne Anderson, 43, was the subject of a routine traffic stop by the Nevada Highway Patrol at 2:56 p.m.

According to Trooper Chuck Allen, the trooper learned that Anderson had a felony warrant and called for backup.

After five patrol units arrived, Anderson was taken into custody. There was no report that she resisted or that anyone was injured.

Allen said that procedure is to treat every felony arrest the same.

"They don't know when they find out about the felony what it's for," he said. "It could be something as non-violent as bad checks to someone who's wanted for murder. Each case is a high-risk traffic stop until the person is taken into custody."
