A celebration of life is 11 a.m. Nov. 18 at Genoa Lakes Country Club Banquet Pavilion for Genoa resident Theodorus Petrus Maria van Leeuwen, 77, who died Oct. 31, 2010, surrounded by his family in Gardnerville.
Born Nov. 18, 1932, in Alphen aan den Rijn, Holland, one of 12 children, to Mr. and Mrs. Simon van Leeuwenvan, he immigrated to the United States in 1956. He became a successful accountant and married his wife Pauline. The couple had seven children.
Mr. van Leeuwen served as treasurer of the Carson Valley Trails Association and was an avid tennis player and golfer. Upon retirement, the couple hit the road in their recreational vehicle traveling all over the U.S.
He is survived by wife Pauline; Jacqueline (Tom) Tenge, Eric (Julianna), Greg (Kimberly), Monica (Stanley) Ross, Anna (Carey)Thrasher, Jessica and Christina (Louis) Kaufman; 17 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
