Good drill

EDITOR:

In observance of Nevada Fire Safe Council's "Wildfire Awareness Week," the Chimney Rock and Round Hill Fire Safe Chapters want to thank all the participants that helped our evacuation drill on May 2 become a huge success.

A big thanks goes out to: Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District, Tahoe Douglas Rotary, Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Douglas County Search and Rescue, Douglas County Posse, Douglas County Parks and Recreation, Douglas County Emergency Management, Douglas County 911, Douglas County Sewer Improvement District, Kingsbury General Improvement District, Round Hill General Improvement District, Nevada Fire Safe Council, Nevada Department of Transportation, Nevada Highway Patrol, Boy Scout Troops 468 & 594, Whittell High School Key Club, United States Forest Service, Red Cross, Lakeside Inn Casino, Stateline Medical, Scotty's Hardware, Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority, UNR Cooperative Extension.

There were many positive lessons learned from the event that will help all the agencies serve our community better in the future. As you can see, it was an effort of enormous proportions. Thanks to all of you for helping make our community fire safe. We hope to see you again in 2012.
