Carson Valley Days carnival tickets available

Carson Valley's oldest and biggest party is less than two weeks away and signs are already popping.

Pre-sale tickets are on sale now for the Carson Valley Days carnival, which starts June 10 in Gardnerville.

Tickets are $18 at Nevada State Bank and Raleys and are good June 11-13 at the carnival, which is held in Lampe Park.

Tickets for the carnival on Thursday are 2-for-1 and are sold at the carnival.

Pre-sale tickets are a $5 savings over those sold at the carnival, which cost $23.

One old-time Carson Valley Days tradition will be making a comeback this year as members of the 20-30 Club put on a free barbecue 6-8 p.m. June 11. The barbecue is first-come, first-served.

The club plans to organize a fireworks show Friday night and is actively looking for sponsors for the event.

The big day on June 12 starts with a balloon launch in the Valley.

Check-in for the Partnership of Community Resources' Carson Valley Days Walk-Jog-Run is 6:45 a.m. with the 10K run starting at 7:45 a.m. and the 5K starting at 8 a.m. The run will start at Lampe Park and then return.

For more information contact the Partnership at 782-8611.

The parade starts at 9 a.m. in Minden and winds up in Gardnerville at Lampe Park. Highway 395 will close starting at 7 a.m. The parade route is down Esmeralda Avenue then onto Highway 395 south to Waterloo Lane.

Carson Valley Days buttons are for sale at nearly 30 Valley businesses.

After the parade, the club will name the citizen of the year, and there will be games.

Entertainment on Saturday night is Rick Hayes and American Steel 2-6 p.m. and Superfreak 8 p.m.
