Boys & Girls Club to host Elks flag ceremony

Tahoe-Douglas Elks will be performing their annual flag ceremony in honor of Flag Day 10 a.m. June 14 at the Boys & Girls Club located at Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School, 701 Long Valley Road in the Gardnerville Ranchos.

The ceremony features the history of the U.S. Flags. Eight different flags are presented and described to patriotic music. These flags include two flags initially used by the colonies in 1775-1777. The first flag to use red and white stripes is presented as well as the famous Betsy Ross flag first flown in 1777.

The ceremony lasts about 30 minutes. In addition to the Boys & Girls Club members, parents and the general public are invited to attend.
