The R-C Morning Report

The number of early voters is up to 1,108, thanks to the additional 388 voters casting ballots on Tuesday. Of those, 107 showed up at the Sunridge Fire Station. Early voting continues in Minden today, and the satellite voting will be 4-6:30 p.m. at the Gardnerville Ranchos Fire Station on Mitch Drive.

The Douglas County Building Association is hosting a candidate meet and greet for the county commissioners 6:30 p.m. at Sharkey's rib room. A seminar on solar power is 5:30 p.m. at the Douglas County Public Library.

This is definitely an odd storm. I don't think we had a drop of rain last night. It looks like the brunt of it has shifted to Thursday and Friday. The chance of showers today is 20 percent with a high of 57 degrees. Expect the wind to be 10-20 mph with gusts of up to 30 mph. The weather is supposed to clear by this weekend.

Melt-off continues to be delayed up in the mountains. As of this morning the snowpack above the Tahoe basis is at 162 percent of average for this time of year. Marlette Lake is reading double its average, with 14 inches of moisture frozen in the snow when there should be only 7. Ebbetts Pass still has 26.7 inches of moisture locked up when there is typically only 19 inches.
