Republican Women offer scholarships

Sierra Nevada Republican Women is accepting applications for the Jo Marshall Scholarship. The two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded in a one-time only basis, with one scholarship awarded in Northern Nevada and one in Southern Nevada.

Applicants must be female, Nevada residents, registered Republicans and must be accepted or attending a Nevada college or university. They must have a minimum 3.3 GPA and have 12 credit hours during the last semester of high school or college. Grades and/or hours cannot be combined from two different sessions of school (i.e., a spring semester and summer school combined to apply for a fall award).

The Jo Marshall Memorial Scholarship was created in 2001 and funded by the Regents Program of the Nevada Federation of Republican Women in memory of Jo Marshall, an energetic and devout Republican, who died December 2000.

The application, two letters of recommendation, a statement of personal goals and most recent transcript (transmitted from most recent school attended) must be received by Aug. 1. Applications available from SNRW scholarship chair Cathie Kite at ckminden@charter.net or 267-2781.
