The final step in superintendent selection part deux starts today at 5:45 p.m. when school board trustees decide whether to hire Heather Henderson-Hill or Lisa Noonan, or even try again with one of the first two candidates, Mary Bull or David Jensen. Board members meet 5:45 p.m. at Douglas High School.

Douglas County commissioners meet at 4:30 p.m. to hold a public hearing on the final budget and discuss approval. They've set aside 30 minutes, but there's no telling how long it will actually be. Commissioners meet in their chambers at 1616 Eighth St. in Minden.

Alleged cheery check kiter Charity Rife will appear in district court today for arraignment, where she is expected to plead guilty to one count of uttering a forged instrument. Authorities believe she was responsible of cashing nearly $5,000 in bad checks during fall 2008.

Expect rain through today and tonight with a chance for thundershowers early this afternoon and evening. There's a chance for some heavy rains, mostly to the east of us. Monday night and Tuesday morning could see some light snow falling in the high Sierra, especially the higher passes such as Carson Pass. Conway and Deadman summits on Highway 395 in Mono County could see some ice and snow.
