Amodei named Nevada Republican chairman

Capitol District Sen. Mark Amodei has been named chairman of the Nevada Republican Party.

Amodei, whose district includes part of Douglas County, was elected on Saturday night.

He takes over for interim chairwoman Sherry Dilley, a Carson Valley resident.

"We are proud to have Sen. Amodei as our new chairman," said Ciara Matthews, communications director for the Nevada Republican Party. "He has a proven record of leadership in the Nevada legislature and we are confident he will continue to deliver for the citizens of Nevada as Nevada Republican Party Chairman."

"This has been a very humbling experience," Sen. Amodei said. "I appreciate the support from around the state and am looking forward to gathering a great staff, great county organizations and great Nevadans so our voices can make a difference in November."
