The R-C Morning Report

A report by the Natural Resources Conservation Service from May 1 says that while parts of Nevada are still in drought, the four river basins along the Sierra front have done very well this year. Both Lake Tahoe and the Carson River snowpack are running at 125 percent of average. The Walker River is at 113 and the Truckee's at 120. That was on May 1. Things haven't gotten worse since then, they've gotten better. But as an old watermaster once said, one season does not a recovery make.

Lots going on this weekend, including on Saturday the Valley Cruisers Rockathon Car Show at Heritage Park, the Horseman's Clinic at the fairgrounds, the Douglas County Honor Guard will be running, Sierra Crest is hosting a Peddler's Fair and it will be Learn to Fly Day at the Minden-Tahoe Airport. On Sunday, Carson Valley Swim Center is hosting an open house, there's a plant sale at Lampe Park and the Ramsdens are hosting Friendship Day for vintage autos up on Heybourne. Check the calendar for more information.

We'll be withdrawing from that snowpack bank this weekend as temperatures rise into the upper 70s. Today it will be mostly sunny and 75. By Sunday, the high temperature will be looking to crack 80 degrees. Then there's a chance we'll see some showers on Monday.
