The R-C Morning Report

The rumblestrip roadshow is coming to Highway 395 through the Pine Nuts this morning. That means a pilot car and one lane of traffic as a work crew makes its way down the road. Highway 88 seemed to go pretty fast once they got started, so hopefully the same is true of the project on the most dangerous stretch of road in Douglas County.

A mama bear and her cubs got into a Kingsbury garage and were trying to get into the house when the burglar alarm went off on Wednesday morning. The bears were frightened off, but expect more of these encounters in the weeks ahead.

The county is holding a roundtable for all of the committees that have members appointed by the board of commissioners. Representatives from boards ranging from 911 advisory to the water conservancy advisory committees will be at the Emergency Operations Center located in the new East Fork Fire District offices starting 4 p.m.

The Douglas County Central Committee will be hosting U.S. Senate candidates Sharron Angle and Danny Tarkanian will be in Gardnerville tonight for the Douglas County Republican Central Committee meeting. The meeting is at the St. Gall Faith Genesis room at 7 p.m. and also features controller candidate Steve Martin and attorney general candidate Travis Barrick.

The forecast for today will be sunny with a high of 67 degrees and a low of 38 tonight. It's time to turn on the sprinklers for a bit until the next storm rolls in on Monday.
