Questioning cuts

EDITOR:

It's a shame Judge Gamble feels that the recommended budget cuts to the district courts are unfair. In my opinion, our court system is a farce. The judges don't give any consideration to the protection of society. They seem to be concerned only with the welfare of the criminal defendants. Criminals are rarely sent to jail or prison. They are repeatedly given probation on top of probation or suspended sentences.

If the judges really believe that public safety is of paramount concern, they ought to try sending repeat offenders to jail and get them off of the street.

Our justice system is supposed to be the best in the world, but the only people benefiting from it are the criminals, attorneys and judges.

The courts do a good job of keeping public defenders and court appointed attorneys employed. Few people are aware of the huge amounts of money paid to court appointed attorneys that milk the system for all it's worth.
