EDITOR:
I completely agree with Mike Henningsen that Ted Thran should be re-elected as Douglas County clerk-treasurer. He is honest, hardworking and has the right educational and professional qualifications and a proven track record. He has many years of experience in handling local and national elections, one of the clerk's most important duties. He is a life-long county resident and will still be living and working here long after others have moved on. He quietly and efficiently gets the job done.
The county clerk's office should be not be considered a political stepping stone. In fact, I believe the clerk should be a hired position rather than an elective one, the State of Nevada constitution notwithstanding. Maybe the Legislature should consider an amendment to change the Constitution.
