Four in race to replace fallen Mono supervisor

Four candidates are seeking the District 4 Mono County seat held by Supervisor Bill Reid until his death in October.

The seat, which represents Coleville, Walker, and Lee Vining, was filled March 19 by Bridgeport Inn owner Robert Peters, who was appointed to hold it until the election. Tim Fesko, Tim Hansen, Renn Nolan and Bob Tems are all vying for the seat, which has the largest field of any of the Mono County races.

Two residents, Larry Johnston and Bill Sauser, are seeking the District 1 seat held by Mammoth Lakes resident Tom Farnetti. District 5 Supervisor Byng Hunt is running for his Mammoth Lakes seat unopposed.

Incumbent Sheriff Rick Scholl is running for re-election against Douglas Northington.

Assistant Superintendent Stacey Adler, is the sole candidate for the office of Mono County Superintendent of Schools.

Prior to this position, Adler was the principal of Mammoth Elementary bringing to this job her administrative and curricular expertise as acquired through years as a classroom teacher, principal, and curriculum specialist.

Adler received her doctorate in education this month.

As Mono County assistant superintendent, she said she collaborates with her office staff to reduce costs and consolidate programs allowing for necessary budget adjustments and minimal impact on students.

In addition to Adler, District Attorney George Booth and Assessor Jody Henning will not face opponents in the June 8 election.
