Tips for the DMV

EDITOR:

I realize in these troubled times of Obama trying to take over the world and control everyone's lives, that my comments are probably trivial but this just drives me whacko!

The DMV needs to add a couple of questions to their drivers license test.

1) When turning right on a green arrow onto a merge lane, should you:

A Make your partial turn and stop?

B Make your turn and drive 15 mph until traffic clears?

C Make your turn, attain the speed of traffic and gently merge into the driving lane?

The answer, of course, is "C" but I'd bet 75 percent of drivers don't know that (as on westbound Stephanie onto northbound Highway 395).

2) When driving on a four lane (two lanes each way) highway, in a rural area, should you:

A Drive in the left hand lane 10 mph under the speed limit?

B Keep changing lanes until you feel comfortable in one of them?

C Drive in the right hand lane unless passing another vehicle?

Again, the answer is "C" but you'd never know it the way people dawdle along in the passing lane. These two questions are very important, especially the first one. Most people just don't know what to do with a merge lane and they can easily cause an accident.
