Good luck, Jim Park

EDITOR:

It is with deep regret that I read that Gardnerville Town Manager Jim Park and his family are moving on.

It seems like only yesterday that he arrived in our community, full of desire and vision to begin making Gardnerville and the whole area for that matter, a more desirable place to live. Upon Jim's arrival the only thing, for the most part, the town served was trash pickup and very little general maintenance.

Utilizing the staff that was then employed and adding extremely qualified people, Jim began his quest for perfection for the Town of Gardnerville.

We all know the visual transformation accomplishments, but there are so many in-progress ventures many people do not realize. I would like to bring some of them to your attention. Things like design review, plan for prosperity, street maintenance indexing, the Martin Slough project, the transformation of a moss filled retention pond into a community fishing hole designed for kids and senior citizens but enjoyed by everyone, special events for families such as movies in the park, Fourth of July celebration and the Christmas kick off, to name just a few of his accomplishments.

When Jim arrived he was amazed at the lack of attendance to town meetings as he felt and still does feel, that it takes resident participation to make the town prosper. We as residents of the Town of Gardnerville, have been so fortunate to have had a manager of his caliber. He will tell you that it hasn't been him alone, but rather his entire staff. I hope the citizens of our town will wish him the best of luck in whatever he may undertake and thank him for stopping by for the last 10 years in assisting us in planning a better future for our town.

In closing, I would like to say, I'm proud to have known Jim and his family as are many other people I know and thank him for making Gardnerville, Nev., an address that people again say with pride.

Good luck my friend.
