Filing for political office begins

Sheriff Ron Pierini was first to file at the Douglas County Clerk's Office this morning.

Pierini was followed by Clerk-Treasurer Ted Thran and Recorder Karen Ellison.

The Clerk's Office started filling out paperwork for candidates at 8 a.m. with Pierini arriving early to file for his fourth term.

Both Ellison and Thran are participating in their first elections after being appointed by county commissioners.

County commissioner Dave Brady filed for his third term on the board. This will be his second election.

Gardnerville Town Board member Mike Philips was fifth in line. Philips is filing for his third and final term on the board.

Assessor Doug Sonnemann signed up for his third term in office.

Former Recorder Linda Slater filed for Gardnerville Town Board. Slater's husband Randy, was the first person to be term-limited on the board in 2008.
