Heads should roll

EDITOR:

A huge thanks to all those who worked so hard to insure that the proposed water consolidation plan be scrapped.

I agree with The Record-Courier's "Fix county's water systems" editorial.

But the paper stopped short of addressing the real problem.

The systems are in bad shape because of the county's mismanagement. Therefore it is the county's fault and the whole county should pay because the fault lies with the elected officials and the staff they employed - it was not the fault of just a few residents.

We should fix the county's water systems and we should fix the county and its staff. Those who were a part of the conspiracy to keep water rates low by not doing what is required by the statutes and by accepting deficient systems should be terminated unless they can produce valid communications where they objected to and warned of the consequences should the policies being forced upon them by their superiors be enacted/continued. Fortunately some are already gone or termed out - but one is seeking higher office.

If we do not rid ourselves of those who caused the problems we will continue to suffer the ongoing consequences for which we have nobody to blame but ourselves.

Let us launch a formal investigation to determine those responsible and see some heads roll. Government employment does not protect one from the consequences for bad decisions.

Remember, they work for us.
