Connie Sorensen Andrews

Nevada native Connie Sorensen Andrews, 64, died June 16, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, Calif., due to complications from a broken hip.

Born Oct. 4, 1945, in Reno, she attended school in Gardnerville, where she was raised. She helped at Sorensen's Resort in Hope Valley, which her family owned.

She graduated from Douglas County High School in Gardnerville in 1963, and went to work for Continental Telephone Co., which is now Verizon.

Mrs. Andrews lived in Jamestown, Calif., and she enjoyed camping, fishing and participating in the Red Hat Society.

She was preceded in death by her father Douglas Sorensen.

She is survived by husband Larry Andrews; mother Lois Sorensen of Gardnerville; brother Chris Sorensen of Carson City; daughters Alice Martinez and Tori La Monda; sons Mark and Mike Andrews; grandchildren Sara and Sam Souza, Daniel and Jacob Andrews, Tedi Andrews and Tashira Conner; niece Christiana Sorensen; and nephews Thomas and Michael Sorensen.

Gloria Jean Betrue

1940-2010

A memorial service is 11 a.m. June 30 at Walton's Funeral Home in Gardnerville for Gloria Jean Betrue, 69, who died of breast cancer June 18, 2010, in Reno. The service will be followed by a celebration of life at the home of daughter Gail Davis.

She moved to Gardnerville from Van Nuys, Calif. She worked at Carson-Tahoe Regional Medical Center for many years.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, sister Pat.

She is survived by her husband of 17 1/2 years, Jack Sargent; daughters Gloria (Don) Kenyon and Gail (Rori) Davis; sisters Kathy, Sandy and Mary; grandchildren, Danielle McGillivray; Michael Davis, Rachelle Collins, Brandon Kenyon; nephew Kelley, many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and two dogs, Jackson and Wanda.
