El Dorado authorities are looking for a 29-year-old Austrailan man who disappeared Sunday while kayaking the middle fork of the Consumes River in the Grizzly Flats area southwest of Placerville.
Leon Wescombe and a group of experienced kayakers were headed down river when his boat rolled upside down. After righting himself, he entered the next set of rapids.
According to the El Dorado County Sheriff's Department, Wecombe's party did not see him exit.
Both shores were searched from the ground and using a California Highway Patrol helicopter, but Wescombe was not located. Search efforts were suspended at 6 p.m.
