James R. Hamilton

A graveside service is 11 a.m. Friday at Eastside Memorial Park in Minden for World War II Army veteran James R. Hamilton, 90, who died June 4, 2010, in Gardnerville.

Born Sept. 17, 1919, in Trinidad, Colo., to William and Lola Hamilton, he served with the U.S. Army in the 759th Tank Battalion in Normandy, France, Germany, Central Europe and England.

He moved to Gardnerville from Reseda, Calif., in 1986.

He enjoyed building bird houses in his free time.

Mr. Hamilton was preceded in death by wife Leoda Hamilton in 2006.

He is survived by one daughter, Sharon (Philip) Paquet; a grandson Russell Thomas and a great-granddaughter, Luaren Thomas.

Walton's Funerals and Cremations in Gardnerville is in charge of final arrangements.
