Michael Lombardo IV identified as man killed in Pinenut accident

The name of a Gardnerville man killed in a Saturday afternoon accident on Pinenut Road was released by the Nevada Highway Patrol this morning.

Michael A. Lombardo IV, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, according to Trooper Chuck Allen.

According to the highway patrol, the accident occurred when a Toyota pickup driven by Gardnerville resident Ryan A. Moglich, 18, of Gardnerville pulled out from a church parking lot turning east on Pinenut when a westbound Mitsubishi sedan approached the intersection.

Allen said the driver of the Mitsubishi, Gardnerville resident Dan Delgadillo, 23, is suspected of driving faster than the 35 mph speed limit.

The driver of the Lancer tried to avoid colliding with the pickup and hit the front of Toyota, and then rolled over ejecting Lombardo, and coming to rest on its side.

Both Delgadillo and passenger Sarah A. Duin, 22, sustained moderate to serious injuries in the accident and were transported to Carson Valley Medical Center. They were then helicoptered to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno. Lombardo was riding in the back seat of the sedan. Allen said Duin is listed in serious condition. Delgadillo was released from the hospital.

Neither Moglich nor his two passengers were injured in the accident, and all three were wearing seatbelts.

Allen said that speed, alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt are all suspected to be contributing factors in this accident in the injuries to the sedan's occupants.

The accident is being investigated by Trooper Eric Gallagher of the Major Accident Investigation Team.  Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or who can provide additional information is encouraged to call him at (775) 689-4661 regarding case No. NHP-1006050551.
