Residents come to aid of diving accident victim

Three upcoming fundraising events will benefit Minden resident Dillon McKenzie, 15, who is at Shriners Hospital in Sacramento where he's recovering from broken vertebrae and a spinal cord injury sustained in a July 7 diving accident.

A bowling fundraiser is 1 p.m. Sunday at Silver Strike Lanes, 1281 Kimmerling Road, Gardnerville Ranchos. Bowling, raffle, silent auction and music by Lavish Green and Dereck and the Drivers.

Music by Dereck and the Drivers and Joe Neal is featured in a fundraiser, 8 p.m., Aug. 6, at Moose & Squirrel, 1302 Langley Drive, Gardnerville Ranchos, for age 21 and older.

Beachcomber stylists Esther Feddish and Rebecca Adams host a cut-a-thon and car wash fundraiser, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 7, at the Beachcomber salon, 1507 Highway 395, Suite E, Gardnerville. Information, 782-9444.

Monetary donations can be made to Dillon's trust fund under his parents' names, Mike and Megan McKenzie, at Greater Nevada Credit Union in Minden.
